Ceuta Relocates Its Entire Migrant Camp to the Port, Then Relocates the Port to the Camp

Spanish authorities in Ceuta have begun moving migrants from the beaches to a port camp, then decided to move the port itself to the camp, in a bureaucratic loop that has left the Mediterranean slightly confused.

CEUTA — Spanish security forces began at dawn moving migrants from the beaches of El Trampolín and Benítez to a provisional camp at the port, then immediately began moving the port to the camp, creating a logistical loop that officials describe as «the most efficient use of maritime infrastructure since the invention of the anchor.»

The operation, which started at 6:30, saw migrants sprinting to secure a place in the camp, prompting police to form a human chain and a second human chain to contain the first human chain. «We are containing the containment,» explained a Civil Guard commander, who asked not to be named because he was busy containing himself.

By mid-morning, the port had been partially relocated to the beach, while the camp was relocated to the port, which had been relocated to the beach. A Ministry of Inclusion spokesperson confirmed that the government is «fully committed to the circular relocation of everything, including the concept of relocation itself.»

Defense Minister Margarita Robles presided over a ceremony awarding medals to intelligence officers who had warned about the situation, then awarded a second set of medals to officers who had warned about the warnings. «We are proud of our intelligence services,» she said, «even the ones who were told they didn't exist.»

By evening, the port and the camp had swapped places so many times that fishermen were reporting catching their own boats. Authorities declared the operation a success and announced plans to relocate the success to a larger success at a later date.
