Reading this site needs no cookies. There are no advertising cookies, nothing that recognises you across other websites, and therefore no consent banner.

The one cookie we set

csrftoken — set only on pages that carry a form, in particular the contact page. It ties the form to your browser so that another site cannot submit it in your name. The value is a random string containing nothing about you. Lifetime: one year. It is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, so no consent is required for it.

This site sets no other cookies.

Measurement without cookies

We count how many people read an article using Umami, open-source software running on our own servers. It works without cookies and stores nothing on your device for counting. What it records, and how to switch it off, is set out in our privacy policy.

Local storage

Nothing is written to Local Storage for counting. The only thing read from it is whether you have placed an entry called umami.disabled there yourself, which turns the measurement off.

What you control

Every browser lets you inspect cookies, delete them individually or completely, and restrict which ones are accepted. Deleting csrftoken changes nothing about reading; it is set again the next time you submit a form. Blocking it permanently means the contact form cannot be sent.
