Feijóo Demands Sánchez Send Armada to Ceuta, Then Send the Armada to Fetch the Armada
PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo has escalated his demand for a naval deployment to Ceuta by ordering a second fleet to retrieve the first one, which has reportedly been parked in the Strait of Gibraltar since Tuesday.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo has formally requested that Pedro Sánchez deploy the Spanish Armada to Ceuta, and then deploy a second, larger Armada to retrieve the first Armada, which the PP leader says has been sitting in the Strait of Gibraltar since Tuesday without filing a single movement report.
«The first fleet is not lost, it is simply waiting for further instructions,» a PP spokesperson said. «We have sent a third fleet to deliver those instructions. We expect the third fleet to return with the second fleet, which will then escort the first fleet back to port, where it will be redeployed immediately.»
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that all available naval assets are now committed to the retrieval of other naval assets, leaving the coast of Ceuta guarded by a single Civil Guard patrol boat that has been asked to look «as large as possible» from a distance.
Grande-Marlaska is scheduled to visit El Tarajal on Friday to inspect the police units, and has been advised to bring binoculars strong enough to see the fourth fleet, which was dispatched Thursday evening to locate the third fleet after it failed to locate the second fleet.
«We are not ruling out a fifth fleet,» the spokesperson added. «But we would prefer to resolve this with the fleets we already have at sea.»
