Ukraine Opens Captured Russian Weapons to 430 Firms, Adds Night Shift for Trophy Inspectors

Ukraine's defense ministry has opened its TrophyLab database of captured Russian weaponry to more than 430 companies, adding a night shift for inspectors eager to study the hardware.

Ukraine's defense ministry has thrown open the doors of its TrophyLab database to more than 430 companies from Ukraine and partner nations, each granted round-the-clock access to the technical documentation of captured Russian weaponry. The ministry has also added a permanent night shift of 86 engineers to the facility in Kyiv, where the queue of applicants now stretches down the block and around the corner of the former tank repair depot that houses the operation.

«We expected a few dozen curious manufacturers,» said Deputy Minister of Defense for Trophy Affairs Oleksandr Hrytsenko, standing beside a disassembled Russian mortar tube that serves as the lobby coat rack. «Instead, we have defense giants and garage startups alike sleeping in tents outside the gate, demanding to know how the enemy's optics fail in rain and why their tracks squeak at minus ten degrees.» The ministry has responded by installing floodlights, a canteen serving buckwheat around the clock, and a loudspeaker that announces each new batch of declassified blueprints every two hours.

The first wave of visitors has already produced results. A consortium of three Kharkiv firms has begun manufacturing a reverse-engineered copy of a Russian drone's propeller, while a Lviv startup is testing a towed decoy shaped like a disabled T-72. «We are not just cataloguing their junk,» Hrytsenko added, waving a clipboard at a line of engineers waiting to sign out a captured radio set. «We are turning their own logistics against them, one bolt at a time.» Next week, the ministry plans to open a second depot in Dnipro, where the night shift will begin dismantling a captured electronic warfare system for public viewing.
