Carabinieri to Seize Ranucci Interview, Place It Under Formal Investigation for Carbon Credit Fraud

Following Sigfrido Ranucci's interview on carbon credit business in Zimbabwe, the Carabinieri have announced they will formally acquire the interview itself as a suspect, placing it under investigation for fraud.

The Carabinieri have announced that Sigfrido Ranucci's interview on carbon credit investments in Zimbabwe will be formally acquired as evidence and placed under investigation, with the tape itself named as a person of interest in an expanding fraud inquiry.

Colonel Marcello Ferri, head of the new Artifact Crimes Unit, explained that the interview, recorded on June 26, will be treated as a suspect until it proves its own innocence. «The tape has rights, and it will exercise them from a holding cell at our barracks, where it will be questioned daily about its role in misleading Italian investors,» Ferri said, adding that the cassette has already requested a lawyer.

The decision follows a complaint from a local Zimbabwean partner who claims the interview misrepresented his business dealings. Investigators will now re-enact the conversation using actors and a replica studio to determine whether the tape acted with criminal intent. «We cannot let a mere recording ruin the reputation of honest carbon credit brokers,» Ferri added.

Legal experts note that this is the first time an interview has been detained, with the Carabinieri reportedly planning to extend the practice to phone calls and emails. Ranucci has vowed to appeal, insisting his interview was merely doing its job.
